Trained assists and zergs made quick work of any target, squishy or otherwise. This is where Guild Wars deviates from that old standard, which in my opinion is a good thing.

The idea had finally came of age, "Hey, people don't like dying in the blink of an eye all the time, without even having a chance...let's tone down the power of everything, drop the idea of mass crowd control, shorten the durations of effects/conditions and make a combat system that is built with checks and balances as a central governing philosophy..." yada yada...

So, Guild Wars style PvP was born, it may have flaws but it appears to me that fights aren't routinely over in 30 seconds.

I do wish the numbers of participants on the battle field were larger.

That's why the brilliant pvp slots were invented =D You can jump right into a level 20 character with max weapons and start pvping even without finishing the game.

I'd have to agree that the learning curve in GW is really steep, more so for some classes than others. Monking has a really harsh start but once you get the hang of everything (Pre-kiting, spike tell-tales etc.), it starts to get easier. On the other hand, warriors start slightly easier, but as you get more experienced, there are a lot more things to consider. In every case though, you have less than a second to make a decision and that decision could cost you the game. A good example would be "Should I heal myself now or wait for their next spike?" when you're against a spike team in HA. Casting a 1 second heal on yourself could make you miss their next spike and missing spikes could we...could you the game =P I'm not gonna talk about how the other monk could heal you and stuff but yeah, just trying to convey an idea, okay guys? =P

Personally, I feel the best way to get into the hang of things is to take advantage of the friends that you have and go do some HA or TA. When I first started, a group of r8ish friends brought me into tombs (Well, this was before HA, and I'm gonna call it tombs just cuz =P That was where the HoH thingy was before tombs became a pve area...just for those that don't know =P) and I was monking. It was stressing (especially when they were all good >_>) but getting thrown out into the deep end early really helped. While you may make a lot of mistakes at the start, it's all part of the learning experience in GW. Most importantly, just have fun =D

So yeah, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it ^^ It gets better once you understand the basics of pvp.
